I'm in! Very grateful along with the other committed alumni of Board Prep. No regrets that I went here, especially after seeing what has happened to people who have relapsed. I take my recovery seriously and will share it with anyone who will listen! Happy Thanksgiving!
This Thanksgiving, I am putting my sincere gratitude into action and making sure I carry the message of hope and recovery to those who are still suffering from the disease of addiction. You can trust the professionals at BoardPrep to help you. I did and I have been clean and sober for over two years as a result. Happy Thanksgiving!
I did the research and we ended up choosing board prep because, as their website says, their founders are experienced clinicians, not business investors. From the first phone call , we have been helped in a very compassionate and professional way. They explain the research and how it ties into their approach each step of the way. We felt overwhelmed by the disease before board prep. Now we feel we have a long term partner in our family members recovery.
Awesome alumni event last week. So glad to be a part of it. Great seeing the people I went through treatment with plus others that went through before and after me. So much strong recovery. Speakers, food and fellowship! Can’t wait for the next one!
The entire process was completely professional yet non threatening. The staff, from the receptionist to the toxicology screener to the interviewers were thorough and non-judgemental ( although they were actually analyzing me at the time). I would advise anyone going through this process to fell safe and confident in the process.
I have a lot of respect for the work and dedication of the staff at BP. it can't be easy getting kicked in the head by people who don't want to recover. We are happy we got the help we needed here. God bless.
Going public is not an easy decision but if this review helps someone decide to get help it is worth it. I highly recommend recovery and Boardprep.
This program was a blessing to my family. Thank you!
I searched for the right place for my adult son for a long time, while preparing him to accept help. The choices where overwhelming at first, so I began talking to other professionals. We chose Board Prep after my son's psychiatrist pushed for it because of their long-term philosophy. Glad we listened, after 2 years of watching my son recover from addiction and bipolar and seeing the need for ongoing support, I came to understand how well thought out the Board Prep program is. Thank you BP staff, doctors and founders. We are forever grateful to you!
Great people who know their stuff. My brother got help here and he wanted me involved in the family program. I learned a lot about how to support him in his recovery. He is still doing great after three years.
I am an RN and went here for inpatient 3 years ago. Glad they were here when I needed it. I share my story openly and I refer friends and patients to boardprep when they ask for help.
Very good experience for me and my son. These folks are the real deal. I was tired of looking and talking to places that did not sound right so started doing my own research looking at the staff experience and credentials. Glad I did.
My son recently relapsed but asked to go back to BoardPrep. This time he was honest. They asked if I would share my experience because relapses can be stopped early on. Also, being able to meet with the doctor and get the information we are paying for directly is great. I know from other families that went elsewhere that they were not included in the process and never spoke to the doctor. Our experience with boardprep is that we were included in everything because their philosophy is that it is a family disease and it has to be family recovery too.
We didn't know what to expect but now we would say the whole experience surpassed all expectations. The staff knew what was going to happen before it did and had already planned for it. We have friends that put loved ones in treatment elsewhere and did not have a good experience or outcome. We are very grateful to BoardPrep Recovery. After going through it, you realize everything that can go wrong and realize the importance of their small size, the personal attention and their years of experience doing this kind of treatment. My one piece of advice for anyone seeking treatment for themselves or a loved one would be to really look over the website and especially the staff page. Take the time to look at the training and experience of the people who will be doing the actual work.
BoardPrep Recovery was a very good experience for me. The things I noticed immediately was the welcoming atmosphere and the really good food, Chef Peggy was awesome! I had a private room and was allowed plenty of individual time to decompress when I needed to. Most of all, I felt I got a lot out of the experience as far as dealing with my addiction issues and not wanting to go back to where I came from. I really have a strong desire to stay in recovery and use the tools I learned at BoardPrep Recovery. I want to thank all of the staff and my family for supporting me during this difficult time.
My daughter is a young professional who struggled with addiction. She entered BoardPrep Recovery Center this past summer and received an excellent course of treatment. Her therapist was exceptional, returning my daughter to a happier, healthier version for her former self.
My son is doing well. They really knew how to win him over, to my surprise. He liked his therapist and he liked having a private bedroom in a nice house with nice housemates. He also liked the prepared meals and the focus on personal responsibility. I liked their professionalism and science-based approach . . . and the fact that they are going to be here for us after treatment, for the long term if needed.
"Quitting is easy, staying quit is hard!" That is an old saying that I heard in an AA meeting. It's true. I quit a hundred times before I went through treatment at Boardprep. I just never was able to stick with it. Treatment at Boardprep gave me the tools to stick with it. Now I like to give back by sharing my experience. I hope someone out there finds this helpful. God bless.
Recovery is not easy. Taking the first step by asking for help is how to start. That is what I did when I called Boardprep. I had already tried quitting on my own, setting dates to quit, switching to other substances, cutting back, making promises to my family, nothing worked until I got professional help. Boardprep professionals know what it takes to stay in recovery long-term. I was not interested in another failed short-term fix. Since going through the Boardprep program and continuing with the recommended follow-up, I have maintained my recovery and my life is getting better every day.
This program is excellent. Everything that makes a difference in recovery is given great attention. Well-trained staff, small case-load sizes, lots of individual attention, integrated psychiatry, nice facilities, safe, comfortable, engaging and positive approach, good communication with family, great food, private rooms, mission-driven professionals, all the right stuff!
Boardprep helped save my marriage and family. Addiction was tearing us apart. Now we all work together on recovery. This is a life and happiness that I did not know was possible. Thank you to all the caring staff and professionals at BPRC!
My dad went to boardprep for treatment last year. I think they saved his life because he had already overdosed before and we had to take him to the hospital to get narcan. He was really embarrassed at first because he is successful and thought he didn't need help and that people would judge him. But it all worked out and he is doing much better now and he found out who his friends really are.
I do not usually write reviews for anything but my AA sponsor told me that this is a good way to give back, by sharing my experience strength and hope. So what I mainly want to say is that, in the beginning, I did not think treatment would work for me. I did not want "recovery" nor did I want to be in treatment. In treatment something unexpected happened. I began to "want to want" recovery, if that makes sense. I think it will make sense to people who have been where I was. Looking back now, I realize that I was so far gone, that I had actually given up on myself. I was broken. Now, thanks to BoardPrep I have three years of recovery under my belt. I have a whole new perspective on life. Through my continued involvement in 12 step programs including regular meeting attendance and service work with newcomers in recovery, I continue to experience unexpected miracles in my life that would have never happened if I was still out there using drugs and alcohol. When people say "you have to want to recover," I tell them my story and that I think treatment is especially for people who do NOT want to recover at first. After all, the disease takes away your hopes and dreams. Do you at least want to want something better? Try recovery for a day, a week, a month . . . see what happens . . . you will be amazed
I was referred to boardprep because I am a lawyer and they are known for treating professionals. After going through the program I learned from others in recovery how lucky I was that I did not go to Gainesville or Atlanta or one of the other professionals programs that are known for long stays and harsh tactics. I liked that they are not too big. Their approach is personalized and not confrontational. Boardprep is just right for people like me.
The staff go above and beyond in ensuring that all the patients get the treatment they need.
Really nice people work here. My son got the help he needed. I don't usually do reviews but I felt like this was a small thing I could do to "give back." The gift of having my son back in my life is priceless. I am filled with gratitude. Thank you BoardPrep Recovery Center!
When you are ready- Board Prep is there. Recovery based on science and the steps. John, Liz and the staff offer support compassion, groups and healthy solutions. Reasonable. Various in and out patient services. I highly recommend them. 4 years 7 months clean.
If you've been thru the "system" you know how dealing w a young adult w mental health issues and addiction illnesses can be frustrating and bring you lost, confused and not know what to do. Well along comes this group that gives the answers of EXACTLY what you need to do and the specifics of getting your loved one the help they need. They are loving and caring and hand-hold every step of the way from the ER stabilization to transfer to treatment. Although it looks like an expensive, country club rehab they charge a REASONABLE FEE and as making a profit off a horrific disease is not their priority. So far we would recommend them to anyone seeking help as I'm sure arrangements for care could be made. So don't NOT get help because of dead ends in the past. Let Board Prep come to the rescue. (I am a mom and am not related or affiliated w this group at all other than services being rendered). Im absolutely appalled at the negative reviews and do not believe they would be unprofessional. John and Liz came highly recommended from VERY professional individuals at USF and UF. They know their stuff. Check out the amount of professional articles that have been published in various journals and the speaking engagements they've done. There is NO PLACE bettter in Tampa to go for treatment.
It's great to work with people like John and Liz Harden. They are experts in their field and they go above and beyond to take extraordinary care of their clients and their families through the difficult process of recovery. They are compassionate and highly committed to facilitating the most positive longterm outcomes possible.
BoardPrep saved my life. I am so grateful to the staff and founders of this remarkable recovery center. They were patient and kind when I was being stubborn and difficult. It was a dark time. They had faith in me when I had none in myself. They took the time to answer all of my questions and my family's concerns as well. They helped my family as much as they helped me. They explained the options for treatment, the time commitment and the costs very clearly. They explained that my insurance was out-of-network but helped with the claim. My family was pleasantly surprised to get some pretty good insurance reimbursement after the deductible was paid. Since I was in treatment 4 years ago, we found the fees to be VERY reasonable in comparison. This time, I was in treatment just over 90 days at BoardPrep including outpatient sessions but the cost overall was still less than what we paid for the 30-day rehab in South Florida 4 years ago. The financial coordinator at BoardPrep handled the insurance claims and billing very professionally and we never had any concerns. I continue to do follow-up visits with BoardPrep (seeing a therapist weekly, urine screens and psychiatric follow-ups) and my insurance covers it almost fully now. I know without the follow-ups, I would not be feeling as solid as I do right now. I have a good support network, my medications are right and I like myself again. Life is good. I am further along in recovery now than I was the last time when I relapsed. This time I know to stick with the basics, keep it simple and stay grateful!
I am so happy to be the first person to review BoardPrep Recovery. Simply put, BoardPrep saved my life. I did not believe I was addicted when I first went into treatment. Honestly, I went in to treatment to make some other people happy. Yes, I knew I had problems, but I was sure they had nothing to do with my drinking and using. BoardPrep met me where I was in the process, and helped open my eyes to the real issues. Today, I am over a year sober. I am more productive than ever at work. My family is happy and most importantly, I am happier without my old playmates and playthings.
